Daisy Ridley is set to reprise her affinity for the horror genre with a new feature film titled Get Rid of It. This casting announcement arrives just as the actress prepares to return to theaters this month in the holiday film Ebenezer, which opens on November 13 and stars alongside Johnny Depp in a darker adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol directed by Ti West.

Get Rid of It was written by Gemma Holdway and will be directed by Ry Russo-Young, known for Before I Fall. The production is being helmed by producer David Lancaster. Joining Ridley in the cast are Sosie Bacon and Simon Rex. The film follows a character named Harper, played by Ridley, who embarks on a cross-country road trip with her sister Jessie after discovering she is pregnant following a one-night stand with a mysterious drifter named Miller. As the journey progresses, the sisters must fight for survival upon realizing that the entity growing inside Harper may not be human.

Russo-Young described the project as propulsive and playful, noting its compelling point of view and heart beneath the horror elements. She expressed excitement about bringing the story to life with what she called an extraordinary group of collaborators. While Get Rid of It does not yet have an official release date, filming is scheduled to begin in early 2027.

This role continues Ridley's history with the genre, which includes her appearance in the indie horror film Scrawl before her rise to fame as Rey Skywalker. More recently, she starred in the modern zombie movie We Bury the Dead and took on an action heroine role in Cleaner. Her other recent credits include Young Woman and the Sea, Magpie, and The Marsh King's Daughter. Beyond these projects, Ridley is set to star in the upcoming rom-com The Last Resort alongside fellow Star Wars alum Alden Ehrenreich and will executive produce and star in a Paramount+ series adaptation of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.

Regarding her future in the Star Wars franchise, plans exist for Ridley to return as Rey, though the timeline remains uncertain. It was previously announced that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy would direct a new film focused on Rey set many years after The Rise of Skywalker. However, rumors suggest this project may have been shelved in favor of a separate Star Wars trilogy written by Simon Kinberg, which could still potentially feature Ridley in the role.
