Halloween Ends, the 2022 film that closed out the latest Halloween trilogy, is the seventh most-watched movie on Netflix in the United States, according to FlixPatrol. It is the only franchise title on the list, which is currently dominated by the Spanish crime drama Collision Course. The film's streaming success comes just after the spooky holiday and stands out as an unexpected choice given Netflix's horror library.

Directed by David Gordon Green, who co-wrote the screenplay with Paul Brad Logan, Danny McBride and Chris Bernier, Halloween Ends was the third and final entry in the recent trilogy. Jamie Lee Curtis stars as Laurie Strode, who has moved in with her granddaughter Allyson, played by Andi Matichak, in the time since Michael Myers' most recent killing spree. Rohan Campbell plays Corey Cunningham, a young man haunted by accidentally killing a child he babysat and subsequently ostracized by others in Haddonfield. After a chance encounter with Michael Myers, Corey begins embracing the murderous impulses the killer brings to the surface, embarking on his own killing spree while Michael slowly regains his strength before descending upon Haddonfield one final time. The film runs 111 minutes and was released on October 12, 2022.

Upon release, Halloween Ends drew widespread derision, largely for placing Corey at the center of the story and turning him into something of a replacement Shape, as well as for making Michael incapable of defending himself at multiple points. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 40% critical score and a 57% audience score.

Halloween Ends was not intended to launch another line of Halloween films. Fans can still expect Michael Myers to return at some point, though not in the form most would anticipate. In 2024, Miramax Television head Marc Helwig confirmed plans for a Halloween reboot series and said Halloween Ends did not leave room for further exploration of its specific iteration. Helwig described the planned series as a creative reset built on the foundation of John Carpenter's original film, focusing on its characters and perhaps a group not heavily featured in recent film versions, rather than spinning out of the more recent adaptations. He added that the recent trilogy culminating with Halloween Ends provided a fitting conclusion to the story, so there was no opportunity to continue from that point. Halloween Ends is currently streaming on Netflix.
