Focus Features has announced that Sense and Sensibility, Georgia Oakley’s new adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel, will be available on digital platforms on November 3. The period romantic drama premiered in U.S. theaters on October 16, 2026.

A physical home-media release will follow on December 15 through Universal Pictures Home Video. Blu-ray, UHD and DVD editions will include several bonus features, including “Sisters First,” which explores the relationship between Elinor and Marianne Dashwood. The releases will also feature the making-of piece “A Modern Medley: Making Sense and Sensibility,” “Mistress of Myself: The Director’s Instinct,” and commentary from Oakley.

Written by Diana Reid and directed by Oakley, the film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Esmé Creed-Miles and Bodhi Rae Breathnach as Elinor, Marianne and Margaret Dashwood. Caitriona Balfe plays Mrs. Dashwood. The story follows Elinor and Marianne as they attempt to rebuild their lives after their family’s affluent circumstances give way to poverty, while navigating romance and the tension between reason and emotion.

Sense and Sensibility has received generally favorable reactions from critics and audiences. The film has grossed more than $37 million against a reported $25 million production budget. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 78% Certified Fresh score from 135 critic reviews and an 89% audience Popcornmeter score based on more than 500 verified ratings and reviews.

The adaptation has been praised for its pacing and performances. The Wrap’s William Bibbiani described it as an enchanting and beautiful interpretation of Austen’s 1811 novel, while Variety’s Beatrice Loayza highlighted its textured visual style and psychological realism.
