God of War Laufey will now launch on May 20, 2027, more than three months later than its previously planned February release. Santa Monica Studio announced the delay on November 4, moving the game out of a crowded early-2027 release period.

The studio said the extra time will allow the team to add the finishing touches and ensure the game reaches its full potential. Its stated aim is to deliver an experience worthy of fans’ passion and dedication.

The delay extends the gap between the game’s reveal and release. Faye’s starring role was unveiled at the June 2026 State of Play, and preorders opened in September. The game had originally been expected to arrive eight months after its announcement; the revised schedule puts its launch 11 months after the reveal.

God of War Laufey’s new date coincides with the Switch 2 version of Persona 4 Revival. Santa Monica Studio also said more information about the game is forthcoming.
