Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham's fourth cinematic collaboration, the 2021 action thriller Wrath of Man, is set to join the free streaming service Tubi at the start of next month. Beginning November 1, audiences can stream the film without cost. The movie serves as a loose remake of the 2004 French film Cash Truck and stars Statham as H, a new cash truck driver in Los Angeles whose intervention during a robbery raises questions about his mysterious past and proficiency with firearms.
This release highlights a significant reunion for the duo, as Wrath of Man was their first project together in over a decade following Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, and Revolver. Directed by Ritchie from a screenplay he co-wrote with Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies, the film also features Holt McCallany, Jeffrey Donovan, Josh Hartnett, Laz Alonso, and Scott Eastwood. The project was a major commercial success, grossing $104 million globally against a production budget of $40 million.
While critical reception was mixed, with Rotten Tomatoes reporting a 68% approval rating from critics, the film resonated strongly with viewers who gave it a verified audience score of 90%. Since Wrath of Man, Ritchie and Statham released Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre in 2023, which did not match the earlier film's box office performance or critical acclaim. Despite this, the pair is moving forward with a sixth collaboration.
Production wrapped in April on Viva La Madness, a standalone adaptation of J.J. Connolly's 2011 novel. Although the book was written as a sequel to Layer Cake, the upcoming film will have no connection to the 2004 movie adaptation starring Daniel Craig. Connolly adapted his own novel for the screen alongside Ritchie. Before Viva La Madness arrives, Statham will return to theaters in The Beekeeper 2 next January. Directed by Timo Tjahjanto, the sequel sees Statham's character Adam Clay becoming a wanted man while attempting to save the President from rogue members of the Beekeepers organization. Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi, Jemma Redgrave, and Jeremy Irons are set to return, joined by Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff, and Adam Copeland in undisclosed roles.
