The 2018 slasher Halloween has overtaken YAGA to become the most-watched title on AMC+ in the United States, according to FlixPatrol. YAGA, a Canadian supernatural horror series that debuted on the service in the U.S. on October 23, now sits at No. 2 after initially reaching the top spot.

Horror titles continue to feature prominently in AMC+’s Top 10 following Halloween. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers ranks fifth, Halloween 5 is sixth, Hallowarrior is seventh, The North Witch is eighth, and The Others is tenth. Halloween: Ends has also returned as a streaming hit on Netflix, the source reports.

David Gordon Green’s 2018 Halloween is a direct sequel to John Carpenter’s 1978 film and brought Jamie Lee Curtis back as Laurie Strode. The movie earned $259.9 million worldwide against a reported $10 million budget. It was followed by Halloween Kills in 2021 and Halloween Ends in 2022.

Created by Kat Sandler and based on her 2019 play, YAGA draws inspiration from the Slavic folklore figure Baba Yaga. The series reworks the legend through themes including female anger, older women’s treatment in society, and the way independent women have been portrayed as monstrous. Carrie-Anne Moss plays Katherine, an older woman whose confidence and independence challenge stereotypes; Hudson Williams also appears in the cast.

YAGA and Halloween are streaming on AMC+. New episodes of YAGA are released on Fridays.
