Fans of cozy life simulations like Animal Crossing have a new sci-fi alternative officially arriving for the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. Petit Planet, developed by HoYoverse, the publisher behind hits such as Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero, and Honkai: Star Rail, marks the company's first release on a Nintendo platform. While the game will debut globally on December 4, 2026, for PC, iOS, and Android devices, the console version is scheduled to follow the next year.
In Petit Planet, players take on the role of a Planet Tender traveling across the Starsea aboard Oumuamua, a spirit said to listen to human wishes. The core gameplay involves planting a Luca Seed that grows into a Luca Arbor, allowing users to gradually shape their planet's landscape, seasons, and ecosystem. HoYoverse describes the experience as never lonely, introducing characters like Planet Coordinator Mobai and Starsea Racer Elsasani who welcome new players. As residents arrive over time, players can build friendships through chance encounters, explore scattered Islets across the Starsea, or visit the Galactic Bazaar for auctions and games.
The title blends the peaceful daily activities of traditional life sims with a sci-fi twist featuring alien residents and a focus on exploration. To celebrate the December 2026 launch, HoYoverse has announced several promotional events. Players can earn over 1,000 free clothing and furniture items through regular gameplay, while a pre-registration lucky draw offers various prizes. Additionally, a "Besties, Made to Match!" event rewards groups of three friends who pre-register with exclusive clothing items.
Starting November 1, the "Launch a Planet" event will allow fans to design custom planets on the official website for a chance to win grand prizes.
