Stephen King’s It franchise has returned to streaming charts following the release of a Halloween special for It: Welcome to Derry. According to FlixPatrol, the prequel series and the 2017 film It both reappeared among popular titles after the special arrived on October 31.
In the United States, It ranked ninth on HBO Max’s film chart, while It: Welcome to Derry placed sixth on the TV charts both in the U.S. and globally. The 30-minute special, A Story of Derry, also charted on Amazon Channels, reaching fifth place in the U.S. and second in the UK. It topped the service’s charts in 11 countries, including Ukraine, Iceland and Estonia.
Set 27 years before the events of the films, the first season of It: Welcome to Derry takes place in 1962. Its story begins as a family moves to Derry, Maine, around the time a young boy disappears. The series stars Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, James Remar and Stephen Rider, with Bill Skarsgård returning as Pennywise.
HBO renewed the series for a second season in August. The next installment is set in 1935 during the Great Depression and will focus on the Bradley Gang, a group of bank robbers who stop in Derry to buy ammunition and encounter a horror there. The Halloween special, A Story of Derry, looks further back, following three youngsters who venture into the Western Wood and encounter an ancient spirit.
It: Welcome to Derry season one and A Story of Derry are streaming on HBO Max.
