Mason Thames will play Dick Grayson in Dynamic Duo, DC Studios’ upcoming animated film about the early days of the first two Robins. Co-chairman and co-CEO Peter Safran confirmed the casting in an interview with Collider, following earlier reports about the role.
Safran said Thames was eager to play Grayson and described the young actor as a fan of the character and DC. He did not confirm reports that Logan Kim will play the second Robin, Jason Todd.
Dynamic Duo is using a puppet-based animation technique developed by Swaybox, with CGI elements and footage shot using real cameras. Swaybox founders Arthur Mintz and Theresa Anderson are directing the film.
The story focuses on Grayson and Todd in their early years, rather than Batman and Robin as a crime-fighting pair. Dynamic Duo is set to open in theaters on September 22, 2028.
