Neve Campbell will return as Sydney Prescott in Scream 8. The actor confirmed her involvement in an interview with the Associated Press, naming the sequel as one of her upcoming projects and saying, “I’ll be in it.” She did not provide additional details.

Campbell returned to the franchise in Scream 7 after missing Scream VI amid a pay dispute. Scream 8 was already in development before Scream 7 reached theaters in February, but Campbell’s participation had not been confirmed at that point. Lilla Zuckerman and Nora Zuckerman are writing the script.

Franchise creator Kevin Williamson, who directed Scream 7, previously said he and Campbell had discussed ideas for a sequel. According to Williamson, Campbell came up with a pitch that others responded positively to. He has said he is not interested in directing Scream 8, and no director has been officially attached.

Campbell is the only cast member confirmed so far for the next film. Courteney Cox has said she may be interested in directing, while other Scream 7 cast members who returned to the franchise included Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, David Arquette, Matthew Lillard and Cox.
