The first official look at Lords of War has been revealed, offering a preview of the sequel to the 2005 film Lord of War. Nicolas Cage returns as international arms dealer Yuri Orlov, while Bill Skarsgård plays Anton, Yuri’s estranged son, who has built an army of mercenaries and becomes his father’s adversary.

Written and directed by Andrew Niccol, who also wrote the original film, Lords of War is scheduled to arrive on January 22, 2027. Cage is among the sequel’s producers, alongside Philippe Rousselet and Fabrice Gianfermi.

The story follows Anton’s rise as an arms dealer, shifting the focus to Yuri’s son and the conflict between the two. Cage previously described the script as complex and said he was drawn to its account of a son becoming the central gunrunner.

Niccol has said that making the original film involved consulting arms dealers to obtain munitions. He recounted arranging to use 50 Soviet tanks, which belonged to one owner and had to be returned by December because they were being sold to Libya.
