Pokémon Winds & Waves is scheduled to arrive in 2027, but The Pokémon Company has not yet shared many details about the game. Its initial announcement introduced three starters: Gecqua, a Water-type; Pombon, a Fire-type; and Browt, a Grass-type. New artwork released as part of the franchise’s 30th-anniversary celebrations offers another look at the trio.

The designs appear in artwork created by illustrator SowSow for the NHK Symphony Orchestra × Pokémon Classic Concert Tour in Japan. The collaboration celebrates Pokémon’s 30th anniversary alongside the orchestra’s 100th anniversary. The illustration features Starter Pokémon from previous generations playing different musical instruments, while Browt, Pombon and Gecqua appear beneath them.

Rumors have suggested that the three new Pokémon could evolve into Water/Psychic, Fire/Fairy and Grass/Ground types, respectively. Those evolution details remain unconfirmed, and it is not yet known when the evolved forms will be shown. For now, the new artwork provides the clearest additional look at the Generation X starter trio and highlights their cute designs.

The artwork is part of a broader series of Pokémon anniversary events and releases. The celebrations include a special 30th-anniversary Pokémon Trading Card Game set and a Pokémon artbook featuring work from the franchise’s nine previous generations, planned for release in December.

The Pokémon Company is also counting down to an announcement scheduled for November 30. According to the available report, some fans believe it could reveal Nintendo Switch 2 ports of Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, following the release of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen on the platform. That possibility has not been officially confirmed.
