IDW Publishing will collect several Star Trek: The Next Generation comic stories set in the Mirror Universe in a new edition scheduled to arrive on February 2, 2027. Star Trek: The Next Generation – The Mirror Universe: IDW Classic Collections is available to pre-order for $13.99 USD.
The 408-page, pocket-sized book gathers three miniseries: the six-part Mirror Broken and Terra Incognita, and the five-part Through the Mirror. It also includes the 32-page one-shot “Mirror Broken: Origin of Data,” which follows the Mirror Universe version of Data.
The stories feature the crew of the ISS Enterprise, led by a more ruthless version of Jean-Luc Picard. David and Scott Tipton wrote the collection’s stories, with artwork by J.K. Woodward, Marcus To, Chris Johnson, Josh Hood, Carlos Nieto, Débora Caríta, Tony Shasteen and Ángel Hernández, among others.
The Mirror Universe first appeared in the 1967 Star Trek episode “Mirror, Mirror,” in which Captain James T. Kirk and members of his crew encounter alternate versions of the Enterprise crew serving a brutal regime. The setting did not appear in The Next Generation’s original television run, but the franchise later revisited it in Deep Space Nine, Enterprise and Discovery.
The comics collection offers a chance to revisit The Next Generation characters in that alternate setting, which the series did not explore on television during its 1987–1994 run.
