My Happy Marriage began as a novel series by Akumi Agitogi and Tsukiho Tsukioka in January 2019. Its story follows Miyo, a young woman from a noble family who is mistreated by her stepmother and married to Kiyoka, a soldier whose previous fiancées abandoned their engagements within days. Although their relationship begins poorly, Miyo gradually opens her heart to him.
The series has also been adapted into manga, anime and live action. The first season of the television anime premiered in July 2023 with 12 episodes and was streamed worldwide on Netflix. A second season followed in January 2025, with Netflix and other services releasing it alongside its Japanese television broadcast.
An original anime titled “Shiawase no Katachi” was bundled with the eighth novel volume when it was released on Blu-ray Disc in March 2024. The OVA later became available worldwide through Netflix and other streaming platforms in November 2024. A three-episode anime special aired on television and began streaming on October 25.
Rito Kohsaka’s manga adaptation launched on Square Enix’s Gangan Online website in December 2018. Square Enix Manga & Books publishes the manga in English, while Yen Press has licensed the light novels. A live-action film based on the novels opened in Japan in March 2023.
