A television anime adaptation of The Bloodthirsty Bride Devours the King, the manga written by Shiki and illustrated by Yū Shinonome, is scheduled to air in 2027. The announcement was made through a website that opened on Monday.

Described as a forbidden dark romantic fantasy set during an era of war, the story follows Kate, a princess with vampiric powers who agrees to an arranged marriage with Luka, the most powerful king in the realm, in an effort to protect her homeland. On their first night together, the scent of Luka’s blood awakens Kate’s true nature, putting their relationship under severe strain and raising questions about whether their connection is based on a contract, instinct or love.

Mariko Iwazaki is directing the anime at IMAGICA Infos and Imageworks Studio, while Shiki is writing the scripts. The project is being produced by en-dolphin. Taeko Miura is handling sound direction at RD, with music by Kujira Yumemi. Kazuya Takahashi is credited with production supervision.

The original manga is available chapter by chapter and in collected volumes through several Japanese digital services, including honto. Its 29th chapter and fourth volume were released in October.
