Bethesda Softworks has revealed the full title of its next role-playing game: The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel. The brief trailer offers no release date, but points to the game’s setting and its place in the series timeline.

The footage shows a dune as wind uncovers an Elder Scroll, followed by a title card bearing the Sentinel name. That subtitle suggests the game will take place in Hammerfell, the province on Tamriel’s western coast whose capital is Sentinel. The desert landscape in the trailer provides another clue, as Hammerfell is known for its desert environments.

The trailer also suggests that Sentinel follows The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Its closing passage is attributed to Yazar, a Moth Priest serving Hammerfell’s High Queen Iradne, and dated 4E 206. Skyrim begins in 4E 201, placing the quoted prophecy five years later. The exact setting date remains unclear, and the trailer does not confirm whether Iradne rules Hammerfell during the game.

The passage describes a vision of “a future lost” and “a victory undone,” but does not explain the events it foretells. Yazar’s role is significant because the Cult of the Ancestor Moth is entrusted with reading the Elder Scrolls. The trailer may therefore introduce Yazar and Iradne as characters connected to the story, though neither is confirmed as a character the player will encounter.

Bethesda’s video is primarily a title reveal, and it provides only limited detail about the game. Still, its references to Hammerfell and the date in Yazar’s passage indicate that Sentinel is not presented as a prequel to Skyrim.
