Blue Eye Samurai will return to Netflix for its second season on January 19, 2027. The release date was revealed in a new teaser marking three years since the animated series’ first-season debut, according to the information provided in the announcement.

The upcoming season will consist of six episodes and follow Mizu, voiced by Maya Erskine, as she continues her search for her father in London. Creators Amber Noizumi and Michael Green described 1657 London as a setting shaped by illicit activity and strict social rules, including persecution of women accused of witchcraft and bans on bars, theaters and Christmas.

The creators also said Mizu will encounter what it means to be Asian in a predominantly white society and a woman in a restrictive period of English history. The new setting is intended to give the season a different feel from the first, while Mizu’s pursuit of revenge continues.

Returning cast members include Brenda Song as Akemi, Darren Barnet as Taigen and Masi Oka as Ringo. New additions include Jonathan Pryce as Old Violet, Joel Kim Booster as Priest Ando and Sherry Cola as Kuma.

Netflix has also renewed the series for a third and final season, planned for 2028. The story is set to expand through a comic-book prequel as well. The first season is available to stream on Netflix.
