Ethan Peck, who plays Spock, has revealed the Star Trek characters he would choose for a special Magic: The Gathering Commander deck. His selections appear in a video published on the official Magic: The Gathering YouTube channel ahead of the crossover set’s planned November 13 launch.

Peck identifies as a mono-Blue player and chooses Mr. Spock, Science Officer, as the deck’s Commander. The card represents Leonard Nimoy’s version of the character and supports a card-drawing strategy by allowing its controller to draw two cards whenever they draw one.

His chosen crew also includes Uhura, whose ability allows players to select a number from zero to 10 and draw cards when an opponent plays a card with the corresponding mana value. Seven of Nine from Star Trek: Voyager provides an additional draw during the first Main Phase, while Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation receives a +1/+1 counter whenever a card is drawn.

The deck is supported by cards including Test of Priorities, Deep Space Scan and Open Communications. Each contributes to the card-drawing theme, with effects that draw two cards when Spock is on the battlefield.

Players who want Spock as their Commander will also have a preconstructed option. The Landing Party Commander Deck is scheduled to launch alongside the Star Trek set on November 13, although its release may be delayed in some regions. The deck focuses on playing non-basic lands with different names, reflecting a crew exploring new worlds and growing stronger over time.

Landing Party uses Green, White and Blue cards, with Spock as its primary Commander and Captain Kirk as the secondary option. Compared with the Klingon and Borg decks, it is designed to play more slowly, but it can produce powerful effects for players who withstand their opponents’ early pressure.
