Netflix has changed the title of its upcoming heist thriller Here Comes The Flood to The Take, according to Netflix Tudum. The film is scheduled to be released on the streaming service in 2027. Netflix has not given a reason for the change.

The story centers on a bank guard, a teller and a master thief caught in a dangerous contest of cons and double-crosses. The film was previously described as a character-focused heist story with a love-story element.

Denzel Washington joined the cast in May 2025, alongside Robert Pattinson and Daisy Edgar-Jones. Danai Gurira, Sean Harris, Moisés Arias and Justin Kirk were added later that year. Fernando Meirelles is directing from an original screenplay by Simon Kinberg. Production ran from November 2025 to January 2026.

Netflix acquired Kinberg’s screenplay in 2020. The Take is his first original screenplay since Mr. and Mrs. Smith. The project is one of Washington’s films in development with the streamer; a separate Netflix historical epic about Hannibal was paused during pre-production in June 2026 following budget issues.

Washington is also set to star in an untitled action thriller directed by Christopher McQuarrie. Amazon MGM Studios has scheduled that film for October 1, 2027.
