Resident Evil (2026) has overtaken Spider-Man: Brand New Day on the Apple TV Store’s U.S. movie chart. The horror reboot reached No. 1 a day after its digital release on November 3, according to FlixPatrol, pushing Spider-Man’s film into second place.
The global rankings differ: Spider-Man: Brand New Day remains No. 1 worldwide, followed by Obsession at No. 2 and Resident Evil at No. 3. The new Resident Evil film is nevertheless the top title in 26 countries.
Directed by Zach Cregger, the reboot draws on the video game series rather than directly adapting an earlier film. Cregger, whose previous horror films include Barbarian and Weapons, has described himself as having spent thousands of hours playing the games. The movie is available to rent or buy through services including Apple TV, Prime Video and Fandango.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrived on digital on October 6 and had held the top spot on the U.S. Apple TV Store chart before Resident Evil’s release. The film remains No. 1 in the global rankings.
